Summer 2013: Junior Players' Summer Drama Camp and Art in the Park
LYTP’s 2013 Junior Players’ Summer Drama Camp was another terrific success thanks to Program Director, Anna MacAlpine, and her two assistants, Alyssa O’Hara and Sara Cecile. The camp ran for four one-week sessions, and this year’s play for family and friends was REALLY, IT’S TRUE! By Nancy Keys. Plans are underway to introduce a Summer Drama Camp for kids between the ages of 6 to 8 years for 2014, along with a few changes to the existing program – watch for details!
Also this summer, a grand time was had by all at Petrolia Art in the Park! LYTP members performed THINGS I DID WHEN I WAS A KID, and our Vintage Clothing & Funky Hat Sale was a terrific fundraiser. MANY thanks to all the fabulous volunteers (young and old) who helped man the LYTP booth for two days - and what about that Hat Tree?
Some of the LYTP gang were invited onstage to dance (and blow bubbles) with Canadian Juno Nominee Andrea Henry (formally with Sugar Jones) while she sang. What a great voice, and what a nice lady! Andrea accepted the gift of a Funky Hat, and posed for photos with us – she also won the gift basket.
A big thanks to the Art in the Park organizers for inviting the Lambton Young Theatre Players to perform and enter a booth. We hope to be there next year!

And The Lion Roared!
Media Release
Dec 20, 2011
The Lambton Young Theatre Players are delighted to announce the cast of the April 2012 production of THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE.
Fifty six young actors and actresses from across Lambton County auditioned for twenty seven roles in what will be the first mainstage production for the Lambton Young Theatre Players at the Sarnia Public Library Theatre, and Director NANCY KEYS couldn’t be happier.
“I was absolutely overwhelmed with the response for the auditions, and in fact, we had to add two extra audition nights just to accommodate everyone. All the kids were fantastic, and it was very difficult for BETHANY LAWRENCE, my Assistant Director, and I to make the final casting decisions. We want to thank everyone who came out to audition, and we hope to see all the kids again for our Christmas 2012 production auditions.”
The cast for the Lambton Young Theatre Players production of THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE is:
EMMA BULGIN (Petrolia), SARA CECILE (Petrolia), DRAYTON DORAN (Sarnia), MEGAN DOUGLAS (Petrolia), ERIC DUGAS (Corunna), SHAYNA GEORGE (Wyoming), HUNTER GORDON (Forest), JAZMINE HENRY (Bright’s Grove), SABINA HENRY (Bright’s Grove), ELISA HOLLINGSWORTH (Watford), DAVID HUIZINGA (Wyoming), TRISTAN JACKSON (Petrolia), OLIVIA KUSTERMANS (Watford), KIER MACKAY (Sarnia), KATHERINE MCNABB (Petrolia), TIM MAYHEAD (Brigden), MEAGHAN PEARSON (Sarnia), WILLIAM PLUNKETT (Alvinston), REBECCA RANKIN (Petrolia), HOLLY REDICK (Oil Springs), JULIA SOETEMANS (Warwick Township), AYLEAH SZYPNIEWSKI (Petrolia), JAZMIN TAYLOR (Forest), SYDNEY TOPLIFFE (Wyoming), ABBY WARREN (Camlachie), KELLY WILKS (Wyoming), and EMILY WRIGHT (Petrolia).
“Rehearsals will begin in January,” says KEYS. “Everyone is very excited, and our designers are already hard at it creating the visual magic that will bring Narnia alive. We are very fortunate to be rehearsing at Lambton Meadowview Villa, and grateful for their support. I think a little bit of Narnia’s magic has already engaged quite a few people at Meadowview, and we look forward to sharing the creative process with many new friends.”
THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE will be performed at the Sarnia Public Library Theatre for five school matinees and two public performances April 11th, 12th and 13th, 2012. For more information on the Lambton Young Theatre Players, or to book tickets for THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE, please contact Nancy Keys at (519) 882-3521, lambtonyoungplayers@gmail.com, or check out www.lambtonyoungplayers.com.
