The Lambton Young Theatre Players offers young people a chance to become involved in theatre productions. We believe that theatre encourages creativity and imagination. It also builds self-esteem, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility. And above all, it’s fun!
What we do
Young performers can join in our main stage performances, our summer acting classes, and other activities such as our annual Boom Town fundraising theatrical event and soiree. Our activities have one aim: to give young people experience in different aspects of theatre. The skills we hope to build include performance, playwriting, technical skills, stage management, and design. For information about upcoming activities, please see our Join the Players! page.
Who we are
Our Founder and Artistic Director is Nancy Keys. Nancy is a children's playwright, and she has been working professionally in theatre for over 25 years. Her true passion has always been for children’s theatre. Before starting the LYTP, she founded the Victoria Playhouse Petrolia (VPP) Young Company and directed it for seven years.
Bethany Lawrence is our Associate Artistic Director. A veteran of the VPP Young Company, Bethany has been involved in theatre since 2005. Her passion for the stage led her to pursue a degree in Drama in Education and Society as well as Stagecraft at Brock University. Anna MacAlpine, an Artistic Associate and Instructor, is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Playwriting from the University of Calgary. Emily Arts, a graduate of the University of Guelph with a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre Studies has recently joined LYTP as an Artistic Associate and Instructor.
Support the Players
We couldn't bring the magic of theatre to young people in Lambton county without the generous support of our sponsors. If you would like to make a donation to LYTP, or become one of our sponsors, please see our Support the Players page, or contact us. LYTP is a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency, and we can provide income tax receipts for donations of $20.00 or more.
